We are thrilled to announce that the International Food Marketing Research Symposium (IFMRS) 2026 will be organized and hosted by MAPP, Aarhus University and AU Cetera in the charming city of Aarhus, Denmark.

Welcome to Aarhus, Denmark’s vibrant second-largest city and a cultural and academic hub on the shores of the Kattegat Sea. Known as the City of Smiles, Aarhus combines cutting-edge research, rich Viking history, and a lively waterfront atmosphere.

Visitors can explore the world-class ARoS Art Museum, stroll through the open-air museum “Den Gamle By (The Old Town)”, and enjoy Nordic cuisine in the Latin Quarter or along the harbor. Nature lovers can relax in the nearby Marselisborg Forests, walk the beaches south of the city, or visit the iconic Infinite Bridge.
There are many big events and sights to enjoy, so you can easily consider extending your stay!

welcome reception

Join us for an informal welcome reception with drinks and light food at a local Aarhus venue on Tuesday evening. This will be a great opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and meet new participants in a relaxed Scandinavian setting.
Details and transportation information will be provided closer to the conference.

Abstract Submission

We invite submissions for both extended abstracts (up to 2,500 words) and short abstracts (up to 500 words).
The submission deadline is April 1st, 2026.

  • Extended abstracts will be included in the conference proceedings and are eligible for best paper awards.
  • Short abstracts will appear in the program but will not be included in the proceedings or awards competition.

Graduate students are especially encouraged to submit, with special recognition for the best student paper.

Important note: Each participant may submit only one abstract as the submitting author.

Conference registration is 6.250 Danish Krones (5.000 DKK + Danish VAT) and includes:

  • Closing dinner

Lodging

The venue and directions will be announced shortly.

We have reserved 25 rooms at the price of 1.495 DKK (23 min walk to campus) and 25 rooms at the price of 675 DKK (15 min by bus to campus). 

Further information about hotels, and booking codes is available after registration for the conference.

Travel

Aarhus Airport (AAR) offers international connections and is approximately 45 minutes from the city center by shuttle bus or taxi.

Billund Airport (BLL), Denmark’s second-largest airport, is about 1.5 hours from Aarhus and offers a wide range of international flights.

From Copenhagen Airport (CPH), Aarhus can be reached by direct train in approximately 3 hours or by a short domestic flight. Denmark’s public transport system is reliable, comfortable, and easy to use.

The International Food Marketing Research Symposium serves as a forum for discussion and communication of food marketing research; it is a peer reviewed academic conference for food marketing articles and student papers. Topics dealt with include but are not limited to consumer behaviour, marketing strategy, agribusiness & marketing, pricing, advertising / promotion, sustainability / ethics, etc. It is a yearly event that is organised by the MAPP Centre at Aarhus University in cooperation with a local co-host.
